American Gangster

This might look like your usual crime mafia movie and it is, but it has a big difference that sets it apart from the classics. In Goodfellas or Casino, which are two of my favorite mafia films ever, theres a crime organization that exists already and is up and running and individual has power in numbers and other established connections. Frank Lucas is an individual that had been brought up and worked with a player that had a crime organization up until the early 70’s when he passed of natural causes. Whats so cool about Frank is that he picked up what he could from his mentor, and then established a direct connection to a Heroin source across the world. Hi used his family as his employees and runners, the intense drug world bring plenty of violence along with it. Then we have the cops side of the story running right along side Franks, its very overwhelming at times, and so is the duration of the film. But its The first organized crime ran solely by one african american, no italian, no irish, no other established crime family, just his gut and smart moves.

Superman Man Of Steel

Straight off the bat i didn’t really want to see a another super hero movie specially after the last Superman movie. But Zach Snyder hit this one straight out the park, did a lot of thing right that weren’t so in the last Superman. The fact that they took the time to explain Superman’s birth his special genetics, and the spectacular start of war that goes along with it is really smart way to approach this story. The use of flashbacks are frequent, usually this would disturb me as a viewer beacuse i dont like jumping from one end in the time line, to another constantly, throughout the entire film. But this time it worked great, maybe one to many but still worked. I recommend this film to anyone who was like me at first before i watched it, bored and defeated to the idea of watching another super hero hollywood blockbuster, but it more than that. Having said that… The fight scenes are incredible! Think Dragon Ball Z in real life, the way they jolt up at you and fight with incredible speed is very well done.

TEDx: Laura Synder’s The Philosophical Breakfast Club
In this post i will be discussing the TEDx Sagrado Corazon, video were Laura Synder explains the origin of scientists and what or who were a part of the rise of science at that historic time.
The Poet Samuel Taylor Coulerge brings forward the necessity to call people who study and create experiments anything but philosophers, since is wasent a proper name for them. In 1812 in Cambridge University. Its then when the name ” Scientist ” was cooked up by William Whewell at the British Association of the Advancement of Science. The four individuals who sat down at a table every morning and made a difference in that time and created a revolution were Charles Babbage, John Hershell, Richard James and William Whewell.
What were some of the products that these men created were, An inductive, Evidence-Based Method, Science for the Public, ( for example the Nautical tide charts ) New Scientific Institutions, External Funding among many many others. All these fundamental things they have laid out for the world werent the only advancements they made, they also made one subconsciously. Scientist would gather in the british association and were encouraged to bring they’re wife’s, daughters any female was more than welcome to come and be a part of the discussions taking place in the British Association.
It was very interesting to see where all the fundamental ideas about science came from and how they played out during theyre creation. This is my favorite TEDx talk from Sagrado Corazon event TEDx U
Snow On The Bluff
Heres something new, this film really impressed me and is a different approach to a story that has already been done before in other films but it still gets away doing something very real. The ghetto exists and so are the situations and conflicts that present them selves on a day to day basis. The protagonists are criminals in a gang and they are all about keeping control of they’re piece of the pie in the ghetto. All the issues that a criminal would have are at some point presented one way or the other in this film. Its very gripping at first, and then it just takes you for a ride you wont ever make in reality, hopefully.

Newsweek LAST HARD COPY ( Hello Digital )
How to interpret this last issue of the Newsweek depends on what you personally think about the new era of writing. When the internet started being more viable for major companies and news agency’s everyone thought it would be begining of a new age for writing. Books, magazines, poems anything you could think of has made its way to the web and you can search directly for it and find almost instantly whatever piece of writing you need. The cover in its self is a harsh but real critisism to what writing has become, note that they used a black and white image trying to be as blunt as possible, saying theres a thin line between hard copy and digital. And the cherry on top is the use of the hashtag, everyone uses twitter to gather and post information mostly via text posts. Newsweek acknowledged the end of hard copy retail for there customers knowing that the future is digital.

This is by far is my favorite film to have sit through and read subtitles the entire time i was watching, but somehow it turns out to be the film that says the most about life as a big picture, more than any other. Its gripping social conflict of the lower class villages or favelas were alot of the population is residing, is what moves the viewer to beliving this story. Dramatically its full of stuning moments and complex harsh realitys that we can all sympathyze with such that it imersses you in each characters own little world, of coars its all pulled together by the narrator which is poetically a photagrepher.When i say i “love” a film its because they made me forget about my life and bring me into the characters life and world for a brief moment in time. Ciudad du Dios does that exceedingly well.

Blocky Maze (Programing Code)
Today we used Blocky Maze for the first time to try and understand and get a grip on what programing consists of. Its very interesting and usefull to understand how programs work since we use software designed by other people every day. The process of getting it right is very pleasing but its also incredibly frustrating to fail at the goal beacuse sometimes it takes alot of tinkering and changes for you to reach the primary goal of the programing. I reached level 7 and almost lost my sanity in the process i think code and writing it is for people who have alot of patience and dont get frustrated easily. I recomend everyone who has ever wondered how this stuff works and how you recive and view your news and other information day to day designed by people like you and me.
